Now

Currently, I live in Baltimore, MD and work as an editor and studio tech for various companies through contracts and in my down time work on personal projects.

About Me

My passion is in the creation and dissemination of art. I enjoy problem-solving and storytelling, and these two loves inevitably always lead me to film making and especially editing. There is nothing more enjoyable to me than finding the narrative and creating something from the scraps of footage given to me. When I am not working on someone else's project to further my career, I am working on my own films. I am tirelessly driven to create and strive to put out as much art into the world as possible, whenever possible.

This has taken me through various paths. Although I see myself as a filmmaker, I have spent long stretches as a radio show host, a musician, an educator, a social media guru, and always as an online archivist of my work and of others. All of my projects are available online through one outlet or another and through my various projects I have learned every part of the process from idea to creation to promotion and propagation.

I started making films as a kid, around the age of 6, on the family VHS camera that had to be plugged into the wall at all times due to a dead battery. This passion continued into high school, where I spent all the time I could in the school's broadcast department, often skipping other classes to work on projects that would be screened monthly in the school cafeteria. Throughout college I would always show up to concerts with camera in hand to film shows, and did not hesitate to contact people to provide them with my services. More than anything, I love using my myriad of talents to figure out how to get something done and if I do not have a project to work on, I will create my own.

My Story

I spent many years as a musician, churning out albums, touring, and producing videos and content. This included a successful Kickstarter to record a studio album as well as a series of promotional videos and a 30 minute comedy special. During this time I also worked as an event promotor and sound engineer for several Athens, GA bars. I also worked as a radio producer, writer and host for several radio shows in my college years, the peak of which was a live on-air trivia show that featured touring bands and local acts called "Close Enough"; this won best talk show 2 times in a row. I also put in time for the local NPR station in Athens, GA. Also during this time, I got some real headway into production, making music videos, concert films, and promotional videos for anyone in town I could contact.

Eventually, these recordings and connection to the Athens music scene lead to directing a documentary on the town that I worked on for years. In July of 2020 I completed the film, Athens, GA: Over/Under. So far it has been praised by several publications, and received upwards of 1000 views in its first week. This included a lengthy podcast interview with Andrew Shearer of Gonzorrific, a write-up by local papers Flagpole and Red and Black, and inclusion in the permanent collection of the Athens, GA Clarke-County Library as a film of historical significance (all available under the Press section). It can be viewed on my other site,  https://www.athensgaoverunder.com . I also worked extensively on an NHK doc that aired on their Japan affiliates. This was filmed partially by myself, as work was split into team across the US and followed the 2020 Debates from the perspective of numerous people of varied backgrounds.

Following a long stint in Athens, I moved to New York to attain my Masters degree in Film Production and Theory. This program allowed me an endless supply of connections and resources to both produce my own work and work with others. In addition to this, I spent a large part of my time here teaching and lecturing, which was invaluable to my learning process. I also lived in Nashville as a video editor and consultant for numerous non-profits across the US. This has included the American Cancer Society, the ESMoA museum in LA, Black Youth Tech-a-Thon in Silicon Valley, Building Tomorrow out of Uganda, and many more. This usually involves culling together all the media available from the organization, either directly from them or from their various social media accounts and putting together a series of promotional videos highlighting their organizations. It involves heavy use of motion graphics, video and photo retouching, and a quick turn around and is done almost entirely remotely.

Most recently I have been working full time in Baltimore as a Video Editor and Studio Tech for the Social Security Administration. When I do have free time I am still able to work on passion project, including most recently the fourth season of Caveh Zahedi's renowned show, "The Show About the Show".
